In a 2018 report, 60% of prisons failed to get inmates into education or training placements even when there were spaces available. In order to take care of this situation, the Redemption Roasters Cafe trains teenage inmates aged 18 to 21 with specialty coffee skills including customer service, food hygiene skills, barista, and coffee roasting, so that they can find jobs upon release prisoners . According to Laura Sapwell, the governor of the Aylesbury prison, this system would decrease the risk of reoffending in the future, considering that a job at a cafe that gives constant wage would help the released inmates to start over upon release compared to inmates who are simply set free without any guidelines.
