University of Michigan’s Social Venture Fund Invests in Six Foods
The Social Venture Fund, the nation’s first student-led impact investing fund at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, has invested in Six Foods, which is an insect-based food company that ensures sustainable consumption of nutrition. The main goal of this company is to introduce insects into the general Western diet as it includes a sufficient amount of proteins to maintain body health. The main product of this company is Chirp Chips. Although it might sound ridiculous, it contains much protein as an egg white and 20 percent of the total daily value of vitamin B12 per 1oz serving. This main product clearly conveys that this ‘insect’ chips provide a more sustainable source of nutrition. Six Food mentioned that this innovative product will further assist our society to create a more sustainable food ecosystem.
