The FRU partnered with the Beale Aero Club to pursue the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, which is aimed to enhance new pilot’s level of practical experience under their new, innovative Aviation Fundamentals Training program, financially supported through the Squadron Innovation Fund. Despite the fact that becoming an RQ-4 Global Hawk Pilot mandates specific training, which is unique to remotely piloted aircraft, numerous pilots have limited experience in the cockpit of an aircraft. Therefore, this unique flight training ensures more experience in the air, designed to enhance airmanship, communication and situational awareness of the new pilots. This project is still a small sample size that has only been gone through two classes; however, based on the fact that clear improvements have been shown, it is expected to yield great amount of dividends in the future.
